This past Friday, Islamic Artists of Orlando hosted its debut show and Pulse Massacre commemoration event, A Sufi Elegy, at Faith Arts Village Orlando. The room was curated with pieces from as far as Pakistan to as close as Windermere.
The event was an excellent homage to Islamic art and honorable tribute to the Pulse massacre victims. Even with a total of over 120 visitors, the room hardly felt cramped. It was kept alive with constructive discussion about art in Islam, centered around the pieces themselves. Visitors also enjoyed exceptional hummus and beverages while observing the collection.
We would like to thank our local artists for donating their time and effort into making our show a truly well-rounded representation of Islamic art! Without their thoughtful contributions, our first exhibition would not have been as incredible.
